Job Purpose
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall leadership, growth, profitability, and strategic direction of the Passenger Vehicle dealership business. The CEO drives business performance across Sales, Service, Spare Parts, Finance & Insurance (F&I), Used Cars, Customer Experience, Human Resources, and Branch Operations while ensuring sustainable growth, operational excellence, and strong OEM relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Define and execute the organization's long-term vision, business strategy, and growth plans.
- Drive revenue growth, market share expansion, and profitability across all dealership operations.
- Identify opportunities for network expansion, acquisitions, new business verticals, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead annual business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Ensure alignment of business objectives with shareholder and OEM expectations.
Profit & Loss (P&L) Management
- Own and manage the overall P&L of the dealership group.
- Drive profitability through effective revenue generation, cost optimization, and operational efficiencies.
- Monitor financial performance, cash flow, working capital, and return on investment.
- Review monthly financial statements, budgets, and business performance metrics.
- Ensure achievement of EBITDA, net profit, and growth targets.
Sales & Market Leadership
- Provide strategic direction for new vehicle sales, used car operations, corporate sales, and fleet business.
- Drive achievement of sales targets and market share objectives across all locations.
- Monitor market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.
- Strengthen customer acquisition and retention strategies.
After-Sales & Customer Experience
- Ensure excellence in service operations, customer satisfaction, and customer retention.
- Drive growth in workshop revenue, spare parts sales, extended warranty, and service contracts.
- Establish customer-centric processes to improve CSI and NPS performance.
- Promote a culture focused on delivering superior ownership experiences.
OEM Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEM leadership and regional teams.
- Ensure compliance with OEM standards, policies, and performance requirements.
- Lead OEM business reviews, audits, facility development projects, and strategic discussions.
- Secure support for business expansion and performance improvement initiatives.
Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop senior leadership teams across Sales, Service, Finance, HR, Marketing, Parts, and Operations.
- Build a high-performance culture driven by accountability, innovation, and customer focus.
- Drive leadership development, succession planning, and talent retention initiatives.
- Foster employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
Corporate Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, legal, financial, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish strong governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
- Oversee audit findings, compliance reviews, and corrective action implementation.
- Promote ethical business practices and corporate responsibility.
Digital Transformation & Process Excellence
- Drive adoption of technology, analytics, CRM, DMS, and digital retail initiatives.
- Champion process automation and operational excellence programs.
- Utilize data-driven insights to improve decision-making and business performance.
- Lead innovation initiatives that enhance customer and employee experiences.
Stakeholder Management
- Engage effectively with shareholders, OEM partners, banks, financial institutions, vendors, and key customers.
- Represent the organization at industry forums, OEM events, and business associations.
- Build strategic alliances that contribute to long-term business growth.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
- MBA or Postgraduate Degree in Management preferred.
Experience
- 18–25+ years of experience in automobile retail, automotive dealership operations, or related industries.
- Minimum 10 years in senior leadership roles with full business responsibility.
- Proven track record of managing multi-location dealership operations and large teams.
- Strong experience in P&L management, business expansion, and strategic leadership.
- Experience with passenger vehicle OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Kia India, Honda Cars India, Volkswagen India, or equivalent OEM networks.
