Job Overview
The Manager on Duty (MOD) – Operations serves as the on-site administrative and operational leader for overseeing the overall functioning of the hospital during assigned shifts. The role ensures that patient care, service delivery, staffing, and safety standards are maintained, while acting as the central point of contact for all operational and administrative matters during off-hours or in the absence of senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee hospital operations during assigned shifts to ensure smooth functioning of all departments.
- Monitor patient flow – admissions, discharges, and transfers – for efficiency and accuracy.
- Address patient and attendant concerns promptly to ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Supervise staff and resources, ensuring adequate manpower and adherence to hospital SOPs.
- Coordinate emergency and crisis situations (medical, technical, or security) effectively.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety, and infection control standards.
- Act as the administrative in-charge and liaison between clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Conduct regular floor rounds to monitor service quality, cleanliness, and patient comfort.
- Prepare detailed shift reports and communicate key issues to senior management.
- Support continuous improvement in hospital operations and patient experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in hospital operations with demonstrated leadership skills
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to handle emergencies and multitask effectively
- Knowledge of hospital systems, patient flow, and service protocols
- Familiarity with NABH / JCI standards and hospital compliance
