Job Description – Sales Representative (General Trade)

Reporting To: Area Sales Manager / Territory Sales Manager

Location: Assigned Non-Metro City & Nearby Rural Markets
Employment Type: Full-Time
Working Days: 6 Days a Week (Weekly Off as per Company Policy)
Salary: ₹18,000 – ₹25,000 per month (Based on Experience)
Job Summary
The Sales Representative (General Trade) is responsible for driving sales growth, expanding market coverage, developing strong relationships with distributors and retailers, ensuring product availability, and achieving sales targets within the assigned territory.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Increase primary and secondary sales within the assigned territory.
- Identify and appoint new retailers in uncovered markets.
- Develop new business opportunities to expand market reach.
- Increase market penetration across towns, villages, and semi-urban markets.
Distributor Management
- Maintain regular visits to distributors.
- Generate secondary sales through distributors.
- Monitor distributor inventory and stock availability.
- Coordinate timely order collection and product dispatch.
- Support distributors in expanding market coverage.
- Resolve distributor-related issues promptly.
Retail Market Development
- Visit retail outlets as per the daily beat plan.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retailers.
- Ensure product availability across all key SKUs.
- Improve product visibility and shelf presence.
- Collect retailer orders and follow up until delivery.
- Introduce new products, schemes, and promotional offers.
Merchandising
- Maintain attractive product displays.
- Ensure proper shelf placement and visibility.
- Install and maintain Point-of-Sale (POS) materials.
- Monitor product freshness and expiry dates.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor pricing, promotions, and new product launches.
- Collect retailer feedback and market insights.
- Identify customer buying trends.
- Submit regular market intelligence reports.
Collections & Reporting
- Ensure timely payment collection as per company policy.
- Maintain accurate sales records.
- Submit daily sales reports and activity reports.
- Update customer database regularly.
Promotional Activities
- Conduct product sampling and promotional campaigns.
- Support retailer meets and local marketing activities.
- Assist in new product launches and promotional events.
Daily Activities
- Report to the reporting manager each morning.
- Follow the assigned Beat Plan.
- Visit 20–25 retail outlets daily.
- Collect retailer orders.
- Monitor stock availability.
- Capture outlet photographs.
- Share order updates through the company WhatsApp group.
- Submit end-of-day sales and activity reports.

Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline (Preferred).
- Minimum 12th Pass with FMCG sales experience is mandatory.
Experience
- 1–3 years of FMCG sales experience.
- Experience in General Trade (GT) is preferred.
- Experience in Food Products, Ready-to-Eat (RTE), Ready-to-Cook (RTC), Snacks, Grocery, or Packaged Foods will be an added advantage.
Travel Requirements
- Extensive local travel within the assigned territory.
- Daily market visits using a two-wheeler.
- Valid driving licence is mandatory.
- Willingness to travel to nearby villages and towns.
