Job Purpose:
To assist science teachers in the preparation, organization, maintenance, and safe operation of Biology, Physics, and Chemistry laboratories, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities:Laboratory Preparation & Support
- Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens, and materials required for practical classes.
- Set up experiments and demonstrations as instructed by science teachers.
- Assist teachers and students during laboratory sessions when required.
- Ensure all apparatus and materials are available and functional before practical sessions.
Laboratory Maintenance
- Clean, maintain, and store laboratory equipment properly after use.
- Conduct routine checks on laboratory instruments and report any damages or malfunctions.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and readiness at all times.
- Ensure proper disposal of laboratory waste according to safety guidelines.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the department about shortages.
- Assist in purchasing and receiving laboratory supplies.
- Maintain stock registers and issue records.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) for chemicals.
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Keep first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and safety equipment updated and accessible.
- Report accidents, breakages, or safety concerns immediately.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain laboratory records, inventories, and maintenance logs.
- Assist in preparing laboratory budgets and annual stock verification.
- Support science exhibitions, projects, fairs, and practical examinations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Laboratory Assistant certification (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety standards.
Experience:
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working in a school, college, or research laboratory preferred.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications may also apply.
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of Biology, Physics, and Chemistry laboratory practices.
- Understanding of laboratory safety protocols.
- Inventory and record-keeping skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, Google Workspace).
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Working Conditions:
- School laboratory environment.
- May involve handling chemicals, laboratory equipment, and biological specimens.
- Must follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment.
Salary:
As per school norms and candidate experience.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
