The Team
Our team consists of highly collaborative developers who specialize in Well Log and Land data within the energy sector. We value innovation, technical versatility, and continuous improvement, working together to develop and enhance software solutions and manage complex, high-stakes database environments.
The Role & Impact:
We are looking for a T-Shaped Software Engineer: someone who brings deep, expert-level database acumen to the table, but is versatile and eager to contribute across our modern and legacy software stack.
Your immediate high-impact responsibility will be leading and executing critical data cleanup and optimization efforts within Oracle and SQL Server. You will ensure these large-scale modifications are executed with zero downtime and no downstream impacts. However, as a core member of our agile team, you will regularly cross over to assist with backend Python services, trace legacy code logic, and manage cloud deployments.
Responsibilities:
- Data Integrity & Modifications (Primary focus): Develop, audit, and safely execute complex SQL scripts, procedures, and data modifications impacting large swathes of production data with a strict focus on risk mitigation.
- Database Troubleshooting: Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related issues within Oracle and SQL Server environments (with additional support for PostgreSQL databases).
- Full-Stack Collaboration & Growth: Assist the team by picking up backend tasks in Python and frontend features in Angular/TypeScript.
- Legacy System Logic Tracing: Read and follow the logic of legacy codebases (C++, C#.NET, and Java) to trace data flows and ensure seamless database integration with modern applications.
- Cloud & DevOps: Manage application deployment and environment health using AWS services (RDS, S3, EC2) and GitHub CI/CD workflows.
What We’re Looking For:
- Deep Database Acumen (Your Core Strength): Strong, hands-on expertise in Oracle and SQL Server database systems. You must deeply understand database internals, transaction management, and performance tuning. Familiarity with PostgreSQL is a welcome bonus, but we prioritize strong relational database fundamentals and expect a candidate skilled in Oracle and SQL Server to adapt easily.
- Full-Stack Versatility: You are not a siloed DBA. You are a software engineer who is highly adaptable, eager to learn, and capable of jumping into Python backend development or Angular (TypeScript) frontend tasks as team priorities evolve.
- Risk-Aware Execution: Proven experience handling large-scale production data cleanups or migrations where data validation, error handling, and rollback strategies are critical.
- Code Comprehension: Strong ability to read and follow legacy codebases in C++, C#.NET, or Java to trace underlying data flows.
- Software Fundamentals: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, combined with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AWS infrastructure and CI/CD deployment practices.
- Familiarity with GitHub for version control and collaborative workflow management.
- Passion for innovative software development and data integrity within the energy sector.
