Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Welding Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in welding engineering, fabrication, and quality control. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing welding procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, optimizing welding processes, and supporting production teams to deliver high-quality fabricated products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WPQ).
- Supervise welding activities and ensure adherence to approved procedures and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance to production, fabrication, and quality teams.
- Conduct root cause analysis of welding defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor welding parameters to improve productivity and reduce rejection rates.
- Coordinate with design, production, quality assurance, and inspection teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and welding best practices.
- Review engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and technical specifications.
- Support third-party inspections and client audits.
- Train and mentor welders on proper welding techniques and quality requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, inspection records, and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Welding Engineering.
- Certification such as CSWIP 3.1/3.2, AWS, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in welding engineering within manufacturing, fabrication, heavy engineering, oil & gas, EPC, or construction industries.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in SMAW, GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), FCAW, and SAW welding processes.
- Strong knowledge of ASME, AWS, API, ISO, and relevant welding codes and standards.
- Experience in WPS/PQR/WPQ preparation and qualification.
- Familiarity with NDT methods (UT, RT, MT, PT).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
- Knowledge of welding metallurgy and material behavior.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
