About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Engineer to build a production-grade Document Intelligence Platform powered by AI agents. This platform ingests PDFs of varying quality and produces structured records aligned to target schemas with per-field confidence scoring and Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) review.
This role is central to building a scalable foundation that handles the complete lifecycle—from document ingestion and extraction to confidence routing and feedback loops. You will work closely with AI Architects and Data Engineers to develop reusable patterns for future document agents.
Key ResponsibilitiesAI Agent Development
- Design, develop, and test production-grade extraction agents that convert unstructured documents into structured schemas.
- Support multiple schema variants and complex document types.
Document Ingestion Engineering
- Build robust ingestion pipelines capable of handling:
- Low-quality scans
- Multi-generation photocopies
- Mixed image and text PDFs
- Inconsistent layouts and degraded inputs
Confidence Scoring & Routing
- Develop per-field confidence models.
- Implement intelligent routing mechanisms:
- High-confidence outputs flow automatically.
- Low-confidence fields are escalated to review queues.
Knowledge Engineering
- Build and configure RAG-based knowledge systems.
- Ensure proper grounding and minimize hallucinations for business-critical document processing.
Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) & Governance
- Implement review workflows and escalation mechanisms.
- Build feedback loops where reviewer corrections become training signals.
- Incorporate prompt-injection mitigation and secure processing controls.
Reprocessing & Change Detection
- Develop comparison and diff mechanisms to identify material changes between document versions.
Performance Optimization
- Optimize model selection, latency, token usage, and overall inference costs.
- Improve throughput and operational efficiency across the pipeline.
Technical Leadership
- Mentor AI engineers and establish best practices for extraction, confidence scoring, and agent orchestration.
Required Skills & ExperienceAWS & Amazon Bedrock
- Strong experience designing cloud-native architectures on AWS.
- Hands-on expertise with Amazon Bedrock, including:
- Prompt engineering
- Context engineering
- Model evaluation
- Cost and latency optimization
Document AI
- Experience with OCR technologies such as Textract or equivalent.
- Expertise in VLM-based document extraction and layout-aware processing.
- Ability to bridge the gap between OCR outputs and structured schemas.
- Familiarity with Firecracker/MicroVM sandboxing for secure processing of untrusted PDFs.
Structured Data Extraction
- Proven experience extracting structured information from long-form documents.
- Knowledge of confidence estimation and calibration techniques.
- Experience processing large PDF files with high accuracy.
Agentic AI Frameworks
- Hands-on experience with:
- LangGraph
- LangChain
- Multi-step reasoning workflows
- Tool-use protocols
- State management for autonomous agents
RAG & LLM Pipelines
- Production experience building:
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- Chunking strategies
- Retrieval mechanisms
- Grounding frameworks
Human-in-the-Loop Systems
- Experience designing review workflows where AI outputs are validated and improved through human feedback.
End-to-End Ownership
- Ability to own systems from ingestion and inference through evaluation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with confidence calibration and selective prediction techniques.
- Expertise in evaluation frameworks and golden datasets.
- Knowledge of field-level accuracy measurement, precision, recall, drift detection, and eval-driven design.
- Experience working with proprietary datasets and data governance requirements.
- Familiarity with Commercial Real Estate (CRE) data structures and domain-specific workflows.
