The Desktop Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise desktop environments to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain standardized desktop and laptop images for Windows (and macOS, as applicable).
- Manage and optimize endpoint management systems such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM (Configuration Manager), or Workspace ONE.
- Automate deployments, configurations, and patch management through scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Develop and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security and configuration standards.
- Implement and manage endpoint security solutions including antivirus, encryption, and device compliance policies.
- Troubleshoot complex desktop, application, and network issues escalated from the support team.
- Work with the IT Security team to ensure compliance with company and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Networking, and Helpdesk teams on end-user computing projects and rollouts.
- Evaluate, test, and deploy new desktop technologies, hardware, and software solutions.
- Maintain documentation for procedures, configurations, and policies.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support technicians.
