About Polyview
Polyview is a Chennai-based engineering and technology company working on drone systems, computer vision products, and defense-adjacent hardware. We run an in-house rapid prototyping and 3D printing operation that takes designs from concept to functional hardware fast — airframes, gimbals, enclosures, jigs, fixtures, and custom mechanical assemblies for our own products and for clients.
The Role
You'll own mechanical design and CAD work across our prototyping pipeline. This is a hands-on role: you'll design parts, prepare them for 3D printing and conventional manufacturing, iterate quickly based on test results, and see your designs fly, ship, or go into production — often within days of drawing them.
What You'll Do
Design mechanical parts and assemblies in CAD — drone airframes, payload mounts, enclosures, brackets, jigs, and fixtures
Design for additive manufacturing: optimize geometry, orientation, tolerances, and material selection for FDM/SLA printing
Design for conventional manufacturing where needed — CNC machining, laser cutting, sheet metal
Prepare production-ready files: STLs, STEP exports, technical drawings with tolerances for external vendors
Iterate fast — take feedback from field testing and turn around revised designs same-day when needed
Work directly with our electronics and systems engineers to integrate mechanical designs with avionics, sensors, and wiring
Maintain an organized parts library and revision history
What We're Looking For
2–6 years of hands-on CAD/mechanical design experience
Fusion 360 proficiency strongly preferred (SolidWorks or similar acceptable if you can transition quickly)
Real experience designing for 3D printing — you understand overhangs, wall thickness, layer adhesion, tolerance compensation, and material behavior, not just how to export an STL
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes: machining, sheet metal, injection molding basics
Ability to read and produce engineering drawings with GD&T fundamentals
Comfort with fast iteration cycles and ambiguity — specs will change, deadlines are real
Nice to Have
Exposure to drones, aerospace, robotics, or similar hardware
Experience operating 3D printers and troubleshooting prints
Basic FEA / structural analysis
CAM experience for CNC work
