SME – US Mortgage Property Appraisals Review

FinacPlus provides virtual business process services to various types of overseas clients, and this position is to be part of the team delivering Mortgage Services to a USA-based client in the Private Hard Money Lending industry.
This position will support the Valuation/Appraisal function and will be responsible for end-to-end appraisal coordination, appraisal review, workflow management, and loan documentation review while ensuring adherence to lender requirements, regulatory expectations, and internal service standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Property Appraisal Review & Valuation Support

Review appraisal reports for completeness, accuracy, lender guidelines, regulatory compliance, and internal company requirements.

Perform detailed analysis of appraisal reports to identify discrepancies, valuation concerns, missing information, and potential risks; prepare revision requests and coordinate resolution with Appraisers and Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs).

Research properties through available sources (Google, Zillow, public records, or similar platforms) to validate appraisal assumptions, property condition, and market comparables.

Review Purchase Contracts and interpret supporting loan documents to ensure alignment with underwriting and appraisal requirements.

Review project budgets and analyse soft costs to ensure adherence to company lending guidelines.

Ensure appraisal activities are completed in accordance with established timelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Appraisal Pipeline Management

Manage the full appraisal lifecycle from order placement through final delivery while ensuring adherence to internal SLAs and production timelines.

Coordinate with Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs), appraisers, borrowers, loan officers, and internal stakeholders to obtain appraisal quotes, delivery commitments, and status updates.

Track appraisals turn times, spot bottlenecks, escalate delays proactively, and resolve issues promptly to keep operations on target.

Monitor appraisal queues and ensure all milestones are completed within established service expectations.
Communication & Stakeholder Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for routine appraisal inquiries, status checks, and follow-ups.

Maintain clear, compliant, and centralized communication with AMCs, appraisers, borrowers, loan officers, underwriting teams, and internal stakeholders.

Provide regular updates to management on appraisal progress, escalations, and operational metrics.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

3–5+ years of experience in US Mortgage Property Appraisal Review, Valuation Operations, or Mortgage Processing.

Strong expertise in reviewing and analysing residential and/or commercial property appraisals.

Experience working with Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs), appraisal workflows, and appraisal pipeline management.

Hands-on experience with Loan Origination Systems (LOS), document management, and workflow tracking.

Strong understanding of lender guidelines and appraisal compliance standards including exposure to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, MBA, CFA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
