JOB DESCRIPTION – HVAC DRAFTSMAN

1. Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Draftsman to prepare accurate and execution-ready HVAC drawings and support design and project execution activities.
The candidate will be responsible for HVAC drafting, AutoCAD drawings, site visits, site measurements, heat load-related drafting support, duct sizing, duct layouts, AHU/FCU layouts, VRF and chilled water systems, refrigerant piping, ventilation systems, coordination drawings, shop drawings and as-built drawings.
The candidate should be capable of converting design requirements and actual site conditions into clear, accurate and practical HVAC drawings while coordinating with HVAC Engineers, Project Engineers, Consultants, Contractors and Site Teams.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesHVAC Design & AutoCAD Drafting
- Prepare detailed HVAC plans, layouts, sections, elevations and installation details using AutoCAD.
- Prepare complete HVAC drafting for air-conditioning and ventilation systems.
- Prepare ducting layouts, duct sizing and duct routing drawings.
- Prepare refrigerant piping layouts for VRF/VRV systems.
- Prepare chilled water piping layouts for chilled water HVAC systems.
- Prepare AHU layouts, AHU room layouts, equipment arrangements and connection details.
- Prepare FCU layouts, indoor/outdoor unit layouts and equipment details.
- Prepare diffuser, grille, louver and air-terminal layouts, including sizing as per design requirements.
- Prepare fresh air, exhaust air and ventilation system drawings.
- Prepare schematic diagrams, riser diagrams and system layouts as required.
- Prepare GA drawings, sectional details, enlarged details and installation/shop details.
- Prepare drawings based on HVAC design calculations, specifications and engineer instructions.
Heat Load & HVAC Design Support
- Understand and work with heat load calculation requirements and HVAC design data.
- Assist HVAC Engineers in preparing drawings based on heat load calculations and equipment selections.
- Understand air distribution calculations and airflow requirements.
- Prepare duct layouts based on required CFM/airflow, duct sizing and pressure requirements.
- Understand and incorporate diffuser and grille sizing as per design requirements.
- Coordinate HVAC drawings with equipment capacities, airflow requirements and system design.
Site Visits & Measurements
- Conduct regular project site visits to understand actual site conditions.
- Take accurate site measurements of rooms, shafts, ceiling heights, equipment locations, openings and service areas.
- Verify dimensions, levels, clearances and existing services before preparing drawings.
- Update drawings according to actual site conditions and measurements.
- Identify site constraints and coordinate with the site team for practical HVAC routing.
- Support engineers and site supervisors in resolving drawing, measurement and installation-related issues.
VRF / VRV & Chilled Water Systems
- Prepare drawings for VRF/VRV air-conditioning systems, including indoor units, outdoor units and refrigerant piping.
- Prepare refrigerant piping layouts and connection details.
- Prepare chilled water piping layouts, including supply and return piping.
- Prepare AHU/FCU chilled water connection details.
- Coordinate equipment locations, pipe routing, duct routing and service clearances.
- Understand basic requirements of both VRF and chilled water HVAC systems.
Coordination & Execution Drawings
- Coordinate HVAC drawings with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing and fire-fighting drawings.
- Check for clashes and service coordination before issuing drawings.
- Prepare MEP coordination drawings and resolve routing conflicts.
- Prepare execution/shop drawings suitable for site installation.
- Incorporate revisions received from HVAC Engineers, Consultants, Architects and Project/Site Teams.
- Provide technical drawing support to the site team during HVAC installation.
- Prepare as-built drawings based on final site installation.
- Maintain proper drawing revision records and ensure the latest drawings are issued to the site team.

4. Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and components, including AHU, FCU, VRF/VRV, ducting, chilled water piping and ventilation systems.
- Expert-level knowledge of AutoCAD 2D for HVAC drafting.
- Good understanding of HVAC duct routing, duct sizing and air distribution.
- Good understanding of heat load calculations and HVAC design data.
- Knowledge of refrigerant piping and chilled water piping systems.
- Knowledge of diffuser, grille and louver selection/sizing.
- Ability to read and understand architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
- Ability to prepare accurate drawings from site measurements and design inputs.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel for maintaining calculations, schedules, measurements and project data.
- Good understanding of HVAC installation practices and site requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with engineering and site execution teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
5. Required Software Knowledge
- AutoCAD 2D – Mandatory / Expert
- MS Excel – Good working knowledge
- Knowledge of other HVAC/MEP drafting or design software will be an advantage.
6. Educational Qualification
BE / Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or equivalent qualification with relevant HVAC drafting experience.
7. Required Experience
- 0–6 years of experience in HVAC drafting/design.
- Freshers with strong HVAC drafting knowledge may also be considered.
- Candidates with experience in VRF/VRV and Chilled Water Systems will be preferred.
- Experience in commercial buildings, residential projects, hospitals, hotels, industrial projects or large HVAC installations will be an advantage.
8. Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have:
- Practical experience in HVAC AutoCAD drafting.
- Good knowledge of heat load calculation concepts.
- Experience in duct sizing, duct layout and air distribution.
- Experience in VRF/VRV and chilled water systems.
- Knowledge of refrigerant piping and chilled water piping.
- Experience with AHU, FCU, ducting, diffusers, grilles and ventilation systems.
- Ability to conduct site visits and take accurate measurements.
- Ability to prepare plans, sections, details, shop drawings and as-built drawings.
- Strong coordination skills with engineers, consultants and site execution teams.
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Excel.
- Ability to deliver accurate drawings within project timelines.

10. Job Nature
This is a full-time HVAC Draftsman position involving both office-based drafting/design work and project site visits. The candidate should be comfortable working with HVAC Engineers and site execution teams and should be willing to travel to project sites whenever required.
Pay: ₹17,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
