Position Overview:
The Senior Purchase Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient procurement of materials, equipment and services for firefighting vehicles & systems. Reporting directly to the senior management or Purchase Manager, this role requires expertise in vendor sourcing, negotiation, logistics, and cost management, with a goal on improving supply chain operations & reducing purchase costs. The Senior Purchase Officer will be responsible for international and local procurement, vendor management, and compliance with quality standards, ensuring timely delivery of materials and optimizing procurement costs. The role involves collaboration with engineering teams, stores, logistics & finance to support project timelines and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
· Procurement & Negotiation:
- Request and evaluate quotations from suppliers, and logistics partners domestically and internationally. Ensuring competitive pricing while negotiate favourable terms on cost, delivery, and payment conditions prepare comparison charts to maximize procurement efficiency. Generate purchase orders and ensure alignment with technical specifications and project deadlines.
- Vendor Development: Identify and on board new vendors, for Subcontracting Engineering items like vessels, machining items and raw materials. Conduct market research to source cost-effective materials and services and foster relationships for long-term partnerships.
· Supply Chain & Logistics:
- Manage the coordination of logistics providers for timely and efficient material deliveries by developing and maintain reliable transport networks for both domestic and international shipments.
- Ensure compliance with customs and EXIM regulations for smooth import/export operations.
- Oversee international procurement, incl. supplier negotiations and import logistics ensuring compliance with international trade laws, tariffs, and customs regulations while managing its documentation, freight forwarding, and customs clearance.
· Coordinate with stores and other departments
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, supplier agreements, delivery schedules, and payment status.
· Cost Qualifications/Competencies:
· Academic:
o Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, Material Management, or related fields.
o Advanced certifications in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management are a major plus preferred
· Experiential:
o Min 6-8 years of experience in procurement, preferably in industries like manufacturing, heavy engineering, automotive or commercial vehicles or firefighting vehicles & systems.
o Proven track record in vendor sourcing, negotiation, and international logistics including experience in, , and customs clearance.
· Soft Skills:
o Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills and a good leader.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on cost optimization and quality assurance.
o Someone who is a quick learner, dynamic, ambitious, action-oriented, curious & demanding of himself, strong willed and solution oriented and has the ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
· Tools & Software:
o Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), MS Office, and database management tools.
o Knowledge of ERP systems and international trade platforms.
· Language:
o Fluency in English, Hindi, Marathi (written and spoken); knowledge of additional languages relevant to supplier regions is a plus.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
