Job Description (JD) – Sales Manager (Air Freight)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager – Air Freight to drive business growth, develop key customer relationships, and expand the air freight portfolio. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in freight forwarding, logistics sales, customer acquisition, and revenue generation within the air cargo sector.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales
- Identify and acquire new customers for international and domestic air freight services.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue and volume targets.
- Generate leads through market research, networking, referrals, and industry contacts.
- Conduct client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to secure new business.
- Prepare and submit competitive freight quotations and proposals.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Understand customer logistics requirements and provide customized solutions.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention through proactive account management.
- Resolve customer concerns and coordinate with operations teams for service delivery.
Market & Trade Development
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and pricing strategies.
- Identify opportunities in key trade lanes and industry sectors.
- Collaborate with overseas agents and carrier partners to develop business opportunities.
Coordination & Operations Support
- Work closely with operations, customer service, and pricing teams to ensure smooth shipment execution.
- Coordinate with airlines, vendors, and overseas partners when required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline and CRM records.
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports.
- Track sales KPIs, revenue growth, gross profit, and customer acquisition metrics.
- Achieve assigned sales targets and profitability objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Marketing, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Air Freight Sales within a Freight Forwarding/Logistics company.
- Strong knowledge of international air freight operations, Incoterms, and supply chain solutions.
- Existing customer network in the Chennai market is preferred.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
