The Prototype Building & Fabrication Engineer/Technician is responsible for building, assembling, and fabricating prototypes based on engineering drawings and design specifications. The role involves supporting new product development by working closely with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure prototypes are built accurately, safely, and within project timelines.

Build and assemble mechanical prototypes as per engineering drawings and CAD models.

Perform fabrication activities including cutting, drilling, grinding, bending, fitting, and welding.

Interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications to ensure accurate prototype builds.

Conduct mechanical assembly, integration, and modifications during prototype development.

Operate workshop machinery and fabrication equipment while adhering to safety standards.

Inspect fabricated components using measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, and other precision tools.

Identify fabrication and assembly issues, recommend corrective actions, and implement improvements.

Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams during prototype development and testing.

Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas following 5S and safety practices.

Ensure timely completion of prototype builds while maintaining quality standards.

Support prototype validation, testing, and continuous design improvements.

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, Production, or a related engineering discipline.

Knowledge of fabrication processes, mechanical assembly, and workshop practices.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.

Understanding of welding, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and fitting processes.

Familiarity with measuring instruments and quality inspection methods.

Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and prototype development.

1–4 years of hands-on experience in Prototype Building, Fabrication, Mechanical Assembly, or Manufacturing.

Experience in Automotive, Electric Vehicles (EV), Aerospace, Heavy Engineering, or Industrial Manufacturing is preferred.

Exposure to prototype development and engineering change implementation will be an added advantage.
