Role Overview:
We are looking for an AI-Powered Full Stack Developer who builds modern, AI-native web applications on the MERN stack and has hands-on experience building AI agent features. This is a dedicated, build-focused role embedded within one of our portfolio startups. You will take features from concept to production including AI agent workflows working closely with the AI Tech Lead and MERN Architect who set direction and standards across the portfolio. The ideal candidate is a strong full-stack builder who has moved beyond using AI coding tools to actually building agentic features that ship to real B2B customers. Key Responsibilities
AI Agent Development (Core):
Build, extend, and productionise AI agent features tool calling, multi-step workflows, memory handling, and structured output validation. Integrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and similar) into product features with robust error handling, retry logic, and fallback chains. Implement guardrails, output validation, and hallucination checks to ensure AI features are reliable enough for enterprise B2B use. Take AI-generated and prototype code and harden it for production adding tests, securing endpoints, and resolving edge cases. Work with AI frameworks or libraries such as LangChain or equivalent tools to create simple AI workflows and prompt-based applications.
Application Development:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable REST APIs using Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB. Build responsive, scalable React.js frontends and develop RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js. Integrate frontend components with backend APIs, databases, and AI services.
Backend & Database:
Build backend modules independently such as Authentication, User Management, Dashboard APIs, Notifications, and Admin modules.
Design and manage MongoDB / PostgreSQL databases and schemas.
Design database schemas and write optimized MongoDB queries using Mongoose, including aggregations and indexes when required. Implement authentication, authorization (RBAC), and API security.
Optimise backend performance and database queries. Follow clean architecture principles by organizing code using MVC or layered architecture with Controllers, Services, Models, and Routes.
Create and optimise prompts to generate structured and reliable responses from AI models.
Develop reusable and responsive UI components using React.js and integrate them with backend APIs.
Quality, Testing & Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, estimate effort, and deliver features within timelines.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, participate in code reviews, and follow software engineering best practices
Use AI-powered development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) responsibly to accelerate delivery while ensuring correctness and security.
Technical Skills & Expertise AI & Generative AI Skills (Core):
- Experience working with OpenAI API, Claude API, and Gemini API Hands-on experience with LangChain and LangGraph
- Strong understanding of Prompt Engineering Ability to generate and process Structured JSON Outputs
- Experience integrating AI Chatbots and AI Assistants into applications
- Knowledge of AI Agent Development and autonomous workflows

Qualifications:
