Job Summary
The System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the hospital's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, computers, applications, CCTV systems, biometric devices, printers, and hospital information systems (HIS). The role ensures maximum system uptime, data security, regulatory compliance, and prompt technical support to all hospital departments.
Key Responsibilities1. System Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows/Linux servers.
- Monitor server performance and system health.
- Manage Active Directory, user accounts, passwords, and permissions.
- Perform regular software updates and security patches.
- Ensure high availability of IT systems.
2. Network Administration
- Configure and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
- Monitor network performance and bandwidth usage.
- Maintain structured cabling and network documentation.
3. Hospital Information System (HIS)
- Manage Hospital Information System (HIS) users and access rights.
- Coordinate with the HIS vendor for troubleshooting and updates.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of OP, IP, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Billing, and EMR modules.
- Resolve application-related issues promptly.
4. Data Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly data backups.
- Verify backup integrity.
- Maintain disaster recovery plans.
- Restore systems during emergencies.
5. Cybersecurity
- Implement antivirus and endpoint protection.
- Monitor system logs and security events.
- Configure firewalls and access controls.
- Prevent unauthorized access and malware attacks.
- Ensure compliance with hospital data privacy policies.
6. Hardware Management
- Install and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and barcode devices.
- Troubleshoot hardware failures.
- Coordinate warranty repairs and AMC services.
- Maintain inventory of IT assets.
7. User Support
- Provide first- and second-level technical support.
- Resolve software and hardware issues.
- Install operating systems and applications.
- Assist users with email, printing, and network access.
- Conduct basic IT orientation for new employees.
8. CCTV & Access Control
- Monitor and maintain CCTV systems.
- Maintain biometric attendance systems.
- Configure door access control systems (if applicable).
- Coordinate with vendors for maintenance.
9. Email & Communication Systems
- Manage official email accounts.
- Configure Outlook and email clients.
- Troubleshoot email-related issues.
- Maintain video conferencing systems.
10. Documentation
- Maintain IT asset register.
- Document network diagrams.
- Maintain server documentation.
- Keep software license records.
- Prepare periodic IT reports.
11. Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with internet service providers.
- Liaise with software vendors.
- Manage AMC vendors.
- Track service requests and escalations.
12. Compliance
- Support NABH standards related to IT.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Follow hospital information security policies.
- Participate in audits.
Daily Responsibilities
- Monitor server and network health.
- Resolve user complaints.
- Verify backups.
- Check antivirus status.
- Monitor CCTV and biometric systems.
- Support HIS users.
- Maintain system uptime.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or related field.
- Diploma/Certification in Networking or System Administration is preferred.
- Certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco (CCNA), VMware, or CompTIA are an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience as a System Administrator.
- Hospital experience preferred.
- Experience with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) is an advantage.
