Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Hotel Accountant & Cost Controller to oversee all accounting, financial reporting, inventory control, and cost management functions for our 3-Star hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, controlling operational costs, and providing financial insights to support management decisions.
Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting
- Manage the hotel's complete accounting operations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports.
- Maintain General Ledger, Trial Balance, Profit & Loss Statement, and Balance Sheet.
- Reconcile bank accounts, cash, and vendor statements.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Monitor cash flow and prepare cash forecasts.
- Ensure timely payment of suppliers and statutory obligations.
2. Cost Control
- Implement and maintain effective cost control procedures.
- Monitor food, beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, and operating costs.
- Calculate daily food and beverage costs and analyze variances.
- Monitor inventory movements and investigate discrepancies.
- Establish standard costing and control wastage.
- Conduct monthly stock audits and surprise inventory checks.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.
3. Inventory Management
- Supervise inventory for food, beverages, housekeeping, engineering, and operating supplies.
- Verify Goods Received Notes (GRN), Purchase Orders (PO), and supplier invoices.
- Ensure accurate stock valuation and inventory records.
- Monitor slow-moving, expired, or obsolete inventory.
4. Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Prepare annual operating budgets.
- Monitor departmental budgets and expenses.
- Perform budget versus actual variance analysis.
- Assist management with financial forecasting and business planning.
5. Revenue & Audit Control
- Verify daily hotel revenue reports.
- Reconcile room revenue, restaurant sales, banquet revenue, and other income.
- Ensure proper billing procedures and revenue recognition.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with hotel policies.
6. Compliance
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and local tax regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants.
- Maintain all statutory records and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to company financial policies and internal controls.
7. Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly MIS reports.
- Present financial analysis and cost reports to management.
- Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Support management with data for strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualifications such as CA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent will be an advantage.
- 4–8 years of accounting and cost control experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Experience in a 3-Star, 4-Star, or 5-Star hotel is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of hotel accounting principles.
- Expertise in cost control and inventory management.
- Experience with hotel PMS, POS, and accounting software (e.g., IDS, Tally, Opera, Fidelio, or similar).
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
