LIVE-IN GOVERNESSRole Overview
We are looking for a warm, capable and highly organised Live-in Governess to support the learning, development, routines and overall care of three children: two 7-year-olds and one 1-year-old.
The ideal candidate is an excellent teacher, confident with young children, proactive, energetic and genuinely enjoys creating a structured and stimulating environment for children.
Key Responsibilities
Education & Development
- Teach and support the two 7-year-olds with reading, writing, mathematics, general knowledge and homework.
- Build strong language, communication, vocabulary and critical-thinking skills through engaging activities.
- Help children develop good study habits, independence, discipline and curiosity.
- Supervise and support tuitions and ensure schoolwork is completed well.
Childcare
- Provide attentive, hands-on care for the 1-year-old, including feeding, bathing, naps, play and daily routines.
- Supervise all three children safely and ensure their schedules are followed.
- Encourage age-appropriate play, creativity, reading and outdoor activities.
Nutrition
- Plan and oversee nutritious meals and snacks for the children.
- Ensure children eat well and maintain healthy mealtime routines.
- Coordinate with the household cook regarding children's meals and requirements.
Activities & Routines
- Coordinate and accompany children to after-school activities, classes, sports and other appointments.
- Organise meaningful activities during free time rather than relying on screens.
- Maintain children's school bags, uniforms, books and activity requirements.
- Help keep the children's daily routines organised.
Ideal Candidate
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong teaching ability, particularly with 6–8-year-olds.
- Patient, warm, firm and emotionally mature.
- Energetic and comfortable caring for multiple children.
- Organised, reliable and proactive.
- Comfortable working as part of a household team.
- Prior experience as a teacher, governess, tutor, au pair or experienced childcare professional preferred.
- Willing to live in with the family.
The Goal
The governess should make the children's lives more structured, stimulating, healthy and joyful, while making the parents' lives significantly easier.
This is not simply a childcare role. It is a hands-on role in the children's education, development, nutrition and daily life.
