Role Overview We are looking for a Financial Controller to own the end-to-end accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal-controls function. This is a hands-on yet strategic leadership role suited to a finance professional who has operated in a funded, high-growth startup on an IPO trajectory and/or the Indian subsidiary of a multinational group. The successful candidate will run a clean, audit-ready, dual-GAAP-capable finance function — building the systems, controls, and reporting discipline that withstand investor diligence, group consolidation, statutory audit, and public-markets scrutiny.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting - Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close; ensure timely, accurate books under Ind AS.
- Prepare group reporting packs and reconcile to parent-company books under IFRS / US GAAP, including GAAP-bridge and audit schedules (for MNC subsidiaries).
- Manage consolidation, intercompany eliminations, and inter-company reconciliations.
- Drive standardisation of the chart of accounts, accounting policies, and close calendar. IPO Readiness & Corporate Governance - Prepare and / or maintain Restated Financial Statements - Establish and document Internal Financial Controls (IFC) / ICFR, including risk-control matrices and management testing.
- Support the audit committee, board, and bankers/merchant bankers through the IPO process and ongoing governance. - Coordinate financial due diligence for fundraises, secondaries, and pre-IPO transactions.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance - Ensure full compliance with the Companies Act, 2013, Income Tax Act, GST, and ROC/MCA filings. - Manage FEMA compliance, FDI/ODI reporting, and RBI filings (FC-GPR, FLA, etc.) relevant to MNC subsidiaries and foreign-funded entities.
- Oversee transfer pricing documentation, intercompany agreements, and the TP audit. - Liaise with company secretary, legal, and tax advisors on regulatory matters.
Audit Management - Manage statutory audit, tax audit, internal audit, group audit, and limited reviews end to end.
- Be the primary point of contact for Big 4 / external auditors; resolve audit queries and close findings. FP&A, Budgeting & MIS - Lead the annual operating plan, budgeting, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Deliver investor- and board-grade MIS, including unit economics, cohort metrics, burn rate, and cash runway (startups) and parent-reporting KPIs (MNCs).
Treasury & Cash Management - Manage cash flow, banking relationships, working capital, and utilisation of investor/parent funds.
- Oversee forex exposure, hedging, and repatriation/remittance processes. Systems, Controls & Process - Own and optimise the ERP (e.g., NetSuite / SAP / Oracle / Zoho Books); drive automation and scalable processes.
- Embed a strong controls culture across procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and record-to-report. Team & Stakeholder Leadership - Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team.
- Be a credible business partner to founders/leadership, the parent finance organisation, investors, and the board.
Required Qualifications & Experience -
Chartered Accountant (CA)— mandatory.
CFA / MBA (Finance) an added advantage.
- 10–15 years of progressive finance experience, with demonstrated controllership. - Hands-on expertise in Ind AS and working knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Experience in a funded startup (Series A and beyond / pre-IPO) and/or an Indian subsidiary of an MNC.
- Proven experience managing Big 4 / external audits.
Preferred / Differentiating
- Big 4 or reputed mid-tier audit-firm grounding early in career.
- ESOP accounting, complex revenue recognition, and cross-border / multi-entity structures.
- Experience standing up or scaling a finance function in a high-growth or newly incorporated entity.
Pay: ₹591,714.14 - ₹1,963,474.20 per year
