Construction IndustryRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior AC Technician to lead HVAC installation, commissioning, and maintenance operations onlarge-scale construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring system quality, mentoring junior technicians, andcoordinating with MEP and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end installation of split, cassette, ducted, VRF/VRV, and chiller systems at construction sitesPerform and supervise gas charging, vacuuming, refrigerant recovery and recharging (R32, R410A, R22)Diagnose and repair compressor faults, gas leakage, PCB failures, electrical issues, and thermostat problemsRead, interpret, and implement HVAC drawings, schematics, and project specificationsCoordinate with civil, electrical, and plumbing teams as part of MEP integration on-siteManage and mentor a team of junior technicians and helpers on siteConduct preventive maintenance schedules and AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) activitiesEnsure compliance with BIS/ISO standards and site safety regulationsLiaise with project managers and site engineers to provide progress updates and resolve issuesMaintain detailed documentation of installations, inspections, and repairsHandle emergency breakdown situations and ensure minimum downtime
Requirements & Qualifications
ITI in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning; Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred3 to 6 years of field experience in HVAC, with at least 2 years in construction projectsStrong knowledge of VRF/VRV systems, ducted AC, and chiller systemsAbility to read MEP drawings and HVAC schematics independentlyExperience leading a team of 2 or more technicians on-siteUnderstanding of single-phase and three-phase electrical connectionsKnowledge of BMS (Building Management System) basics — added advantageStrong problem-solving ability for on-site technical challengesGood communication in Tamil and basic English; ability to coordinate with contractors
Certifications Required
NCVT / NTC Certificate — mandatoryISHRAE Certification (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) — highly preferredCraft Instructor Certificate (CIC) from DGET — for supervisory levelRefrigerant Handling Certificate (manufacturer/ISHRAE) — mandatory for R32/R410A handlingLEED Green Associate — preferred for green building projectsHeight Work Permit / Safety certification — mandatory for site workFirst Aid Certificate — preferred
Preferred Skills
Prior experience in hospital, hotel, or large commercial HVAC projectsExposure to BMS (Building Management System) panels and controlsKnowledge of energy-efficient HVAC systems and inverter technologyExperience with AMC management and client-facing site reporting
