The Non-Clinical Patient Services Coordinator is responsible for delivering exceptional patient support and administrative coordination for patients receiving healthcare services in the United States. This role serves as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring a seamless patient experience through scheduling, follow-up, patient engagement, and care coordination activities.This is a strictly non-clinical position. The Patient Services Coordinator does not provide medical advice, assess symptoms, interpret clinical information, make treatment recommendations, or participate in medical decision-making. All clinical matters must be referred to licensed healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Support Serve as the primary point of contact for patients via phone, email, text, and patient portals. Assist patients with appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and confirmations. Address non-clinical patient inquiries and service requests. Support patient onboarding and registration processes. Provide a positive and professional patient experience.
- Care Coordination Coordinate communication between patients, physicians, specialists, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities. Facilitate referrals, authorizations, and administrative documentation. Track patient appointments, follow-ups, and care coordination activities. Ensure patients receive provider-approved instructions and information. Escalate clinical questions and concerns to licensed healthcare professionals.
- Administrative Support Maintain accurate patient records within EHR/EMR systems. Verify demographic, insurance, and contact information. Document patient interactions in accordance with organizational standards. Support quality improvement and patient engagement initiatives. Prepare reports and maintain operational records as required.
- Appointment Management Schedule office visits, telehealth appointments, diagnostic testing, and specialist consultations. Send appointment reminders and follow-up communications. Assist patients with telehealth access and appointment preparation. Help improve appointment adherence and patient engagement.
- Scope of RoleThe Patient Services Coordinator may: Coordinate patient services and appointments. Communicate approved administrative and provider-directed information. Assist with patient navigation and support. Document patient communications. Facilitate communication among care team members.
- The Patient Services Coordinator may not: Diagnose medical conditions. Perform nursing assessments or clinical evaluations. Triage patient symptoms. Provide medical advice or healthcare recommendations. Interpret laboratory, imaging, or diagnostic results. Recommend medications, tests, or treatments. Modify care plans or treatment plans. Make clinical decisions on behalf of healthcare providers.
- QualificationsEducation B.Sc. Nursing GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences, Public Health, Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, or related fieldExperience 2+ years of experience in healthcare operations, patient services, care coordination, medical office administration, or customer support. Experience supporting U.S. healthcare organizations is preferred. Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems.
