Job Summary
The Backend / Integration Engineer will develop scalable backend services and reliable integrations connecting the organization with external businesses, ERP/accounting, communication, and third-party systems. The role requires strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, REST/SOAP APIs, OAuth, webhooks, authentication, ERP/accounting integrations, email, WhatsApp, telephony, data synchronization, mapping, retry mechanisms, and error handling.
The ideal candidate will have experience building production SaaS products, preferably in AR, collections, fintech, ERP, or AI automation, and be comfortable working in an early-stage/startup environment. The candidate must demonstrate strong ownership, the ability to build features end-to-end, and good testing, documentation, and engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
- Develop backend services using Python and FastAPI.
- Develop and maintain REST APIs.
- Work with PostgreSQL databases.
- Develop business logic and integration services.
- Build background processing services.
API Integration
- Integrate REST and SOAP APIs.
- Implement OAuth and authentication mechanisms.
- Develop and manage webhooks.
- Implement API security.
- Handle API rate limits.
- Manage third-party API failures.
ERP / Accounting Integration
- Integrate ERP and accounting platforms.
- Map data between different systems.
- Build synchronization mechanisms.
- Develop reconciliation processes.
- Handle duplicate and inconsistent data.
- Implement scheduled synchronization.
Communication Integrations
- Integrate email platforms.
- Integrate WhatsApp communication services.
- Integrate telephony platforms.
- Manage inbound and outbound communication events.
- Develop message/event processing workflows.
Reliability & Error Handling
- Implement retry mechanisms.
- Develop dead-letter/error queues.
- Build integration monitoring.
- Implement idempotency.
- Maintain detailed integration logs.
- Troubleshoot production integration failures.
Documentation
- Document API specifications.
- Maintain integration mapping documents.
- Create technical runbooks.
- Maintain integration test cases.
Experience
- 4–7+ years of backend/integration development.
- Strong Python development experience.
- Hands-on REST/SOAP integration experience.
- Experience integrating ERP/accounting systems.
- Experience with communication APIs.
- Experience handling production integration failures.
Pay: From ₹5,000.00 per month
