EXPERIENCE: 8+ Years
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and documenting electrical systems for Low Voltage (LV) distribution, motor control, and industrial automation applications. This role demands hands-on expertise with Rockwell Automation and Schneider Electric PLC platforms, drive systems, servo motion control, and compliance with IEC and UL standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical is essential, and familiarity with EPLAN and DraftSight will be considered a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Engineering
▸ Design and develop complete electrical drawings for LV switchgear, motor control centres (MCCs), and industrial control panels in compliance with IEC and UL standards.
▸ Prepare schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel layouts, cable schedules, and bill of materials (BOM).
▸ Develop panel designs integrating Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) and Schneider Electric PLC platforms, including I/O assignments, control wiring, and safety circuit documentation.
▸ Design and specify variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo drives, and servo motor systems for motion control applications.
▸ Conduct load calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination, and voltage drop studies for LV systems.
▸ Review and validate designs for adherence to applicable standards and project specifications.
Drawing & Documentation
▸ Produce and manage all electrical CAD deliverables using AutoCAD Electrical as the primary design tool.
▸ Maintain drawing revision control, ensure accuracy of as-built documentation, and manage drawing registers.
▸ Create and update electrical symbols, title blocks, and project templates in AutoCAD Electrical.
▸ Utilize EPLAN Electric P8 for design deliverables where required by client or project scope.
▸ Use DraftSight for redlining, annotation, and markup of technical drawings as needed.
Standards & Compliance
▸ Ensure all designs comply with IEC standards including IEC 60204-1, IEC 61439, IEC 61131, and related directives.
▸ Apply UL standards (UL 508A, UL 845, UL 489, etc.) for designs intended for North American markets.
▸ Perform or support third-party panel certification processes and documentation.
▸ Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/LOPA reviews, and internal QA audits.
Collaboration & Communication
▸ Coordinate with mechanical, process, and software engineers to integrate electrical designs into complete system solutions.
▸ Liaise with vendors and suppliers for technical clarifications on panels, drives, and control hardware.
▸ Support procurement teams with technical specifications and equipment selection.
▸ Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior draughtspersons and design engineers.
▸ Interface with clients during design reviews, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site activities as required.
