Job Title: Consultant Neurologist

Job Summary
The Consultant Neurologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles. The consultant provides comprehensive neurological care in OPD, IPD, ICU, and emergency settings while ensuring high standards of patient care, clinical excellence, and compliance with hospital policies and NABH standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with neurological disorders.
- Conduct detailed neurological examinations and interpret clinical findings.
- Manage acute neurological emergencies such as stroke, seizures, meningitis, encephalitis, and head injuries.
- Treat patients with epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis, neuropathies, migraine, movement disorders, and neuromuscular diseases.
- Perform OPD consultations and inpatient rounds daily.
- Provide emergency neurological consultations as per hospital protocol.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based medical practices.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with Neurosurgeons, Cardiologists, Intensivists, Internal Medicine physicians, Physiotherapists, and Rehabilitation specialists.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as required.
- Ensure timely documentation of diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
Diagnostic & Procedural Responsibilities
- Interpret CT Scan, MRI Brain & Spine, EEG, EMG, NCV, Doppler, and other neurological investigations.
- Perform Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Tap) where indicated.
- Administer Botulinum Toxin (Botox) injections for approved neurological indications (if credentialed).
- Supervise and interpret EEG, EMG, and Nerve Conduction Studies.
- Participate in acute stroke management including thrombolysis where applicable.
Patient Care Responsibilities
- Educate patients and families regarding neurological disorders and treatment plans.
- Provide counseling on lifestyle modifications and preventive neurological care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical medical practice.
- Ensure informed consent before procedures and interventions.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
- Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Follow NABH standards, hospital protocols, and infection control policies.
- Assist in developing departmental SOPs and clinical pathways.
- Participate in disaster management and emergency response activities.
Teaching & Training
- Conduct CME programs, case discussions, and departmental teaching sessions.
- Train Resident Medical Officers (RMOs), nursing staff, interns, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and professional development activities.
Research & Quality
- Participate in clinical research and academic activities where applicable.
- Monitor departmental quality indicators.
- Contribute to patient safety initiatives and evidence-based practice.
Qualification
- MBBS from a recognized medical college.
- MD/DNB (General Medicine or Pediatrics) with DM/DNB Neurology from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council.
Experience
- Fresh DM/DNB Neurologists may apply.
- Preference for 2–10 years of post-specialization experience in a multispeciality hospital.
- Experience in stroke management and neurocritical care is desirable.

Pay: ₹22,912.59 - ₹149,984.51 per month
