Job Description
The selected candidate is expected to carry out following activities:
Team management
- Lead and Manage the Basic Design Team.

Building technical capability of the team by carrying regular training.

Act as technical lead on projects with responsibility of delivery of drawings / documents

Plan Schedule for Department tasks - Discuss with Seniors and define the workload priorities and distribute the work to the team accordingly

Supervise and guide engineers and draftspersons.

Ensure that self-checking of deliverables is done as per the check list

Ensure that the planned schedule is met.

Ensure proper Version Control of drawings / documents Technical Responsibilities

Carry out Naval architectural calculations related to lightship weight estimate, stability, resistance, propulsion, etc.

Carry out Arrangement drawings, Structural Drawings and Outfit Drawings
-
Provide the concept of the design / drawing to the Team members
-
Guide the Team members with respect to project requirement and Class / Statutory Requirement

Check drawings / documents to ensure error free drawings • Coordination with clients and vendors.
Technical Responsibilities

Desired profile of the candidate
-
BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech in Naval Architecture from reputed institute (BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech in Mechanical or Civil may also be considered if candidate is experience in Ship Design, particularly Structural Design and Machinery Design)

Candidates having experience in Ship Design having worked in at least 2-3 new build ship design projects. Alternatively, have worked in design of at least 5-6 Retrofit Projects of various ship types or a mix of new build projects and retrofit projects

Good knowledge of Naval Architect calculations, Class Rules, Statutory Rules

Having good knowledge of structure, outfitting, equipment layout & strength calculation is desired.

Good Working Knowledge of AutoCAD
-
Preferably have worked on Ship Design and associated Software like Stability Software, Structural Analysis Software, CFD for resistance prediction, etc.
