Design Engineer
Job Summary
The Design Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate 2D & 3D designs, performing design calculations, and developing fabrication, assembly, and SPM (Special Purpose Machine) drawings using Creo and AutoCAD. The role ensures designs meet functional, quality, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
Job Context
The Design Engineer works closely with production, fabrication, quality, and project teams to convert concepts into manufacturable designs. The role involves design validation, coordination for fabrication and assembly feasibility, and supporting production during execution and trials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare 2D & 3D drawings using Creo and AutoCAD
- Develop detailed fabrication and assembly drawings
- Perform design calculations and technical validations
- Design and develop SPM (Special Purpose Machines) as per project requirement
- Create BOM and part specifications for manufacturing
- Ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective
- Coordinate with production and fabrication teams for design feasibility
- Support assembly, trial, and troubleshooting during execution
- Revise drawings based on site/shop floor feedback
- Maintain proper design documentation and revision control
- Follow design standards, safety norms, and quality guidelines
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficiency in Creo (3D Modeling) and AutoCAD (2D Drafting)
- Strong understanding of fabrication & assembly processes
- Knowledge of SPM design concepts
- Ability to perform basic to intermediate design calculations
- Knowledge of materials, GD&T, and tolerances
- Good coordination and communication skills
- Basic knowledge of ERP documentation is an added advantage
Experience Required:
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in:
- o Mechanical designo Fabrication & assembly drawingso SPM or industrial equipment design
- Experience in manufacturing / industrial environment is mandatoryEducation:
- BE / BTech – Mechanical Engineering
