Job Summary
The Technical Trainer is responsible for delivering professional training in AutoCAD, piping design fundamentals, and 3D plant design tools including AVEVA E3D and SmartPlant 3D (SP3D). The role includes classroom instruction, hands-on project training, curriculum development, and preparing trainees for careers in oil & gas, petrochemical, and process industries.
Key Responsibilities1. Software Training Delivery
- Conduct structured training in:
- AutoCAD (2D drafting & piping layouts)
- AVEVA E3D
- SmartPlant 3D (SP3D)
- AVEVA P&ID / PDMS basics (if applicable)
- Teach piping layout development, equipment modeling, and routing.
- Demonstrate isometric extraction and drawing generation.
- Train students on 3D modeling workflows and clash detection concepts.
2. Piping Engineering Fundamentals
- Explain piping components: valves, fittings, flanges, supports.
- Cover P&ID interpretation and process flow diagrams (PFD).
- Train on piping codes and standards (ASME basics).
- Introduce stress analysis and material specifications overview.
3. Practical & Project-Based Training
- Conduct real-time industry-based plant modeling projects.
- Guide trainees in equipment modeling and piping routing exercises.
- Provide case studies from oil & gas and process industries.
- Support portfolio and project documentation development.
4. Curriculum Development
- Prepare structured lesson plans and lab manuals.
- Develop assignments, project work, and assessments.
- Update content according to latest software versions and industry practices.
5. Assessment & Student Support
- Conduct technical evaluations and practical assessments.
- Provide performance feedback and improvement plans.
- Assist students with interview preparation and technical mock sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in piping design or plant engineering.
- Hands-on experience in AVEVA E3D / SP3D projects.
- Prior training experience preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of piping design and plant layout concepts.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D plant design software.
- Knowledge of P&ID interpretation and drafting standards.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to conduct hands-on lab sessions effectively.
Preferred Certifications
- Autodesk Certification (AutoCAD)
- AVEVA or Hexagon SmartPlant certification
- Industry project experience in oil & gas sector
