An Air Import Freight Forwarder Pricing role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and optimizing cargo rates and routing. Professionals in this role bridge the gap between airlines and internal sales teams, ensuring quick turnarounds on client quotations while maximizing profit margins on inbound international shipments.
Responsibilities
- Rate Negotiation: Negotiate competitive buy rates, volume discounts, and space allocations directly with airlines and consolidators.
- Quotation Generation: Prepare accurate, timely spot-quotes and respond to Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and tenders.
- Cost Optimization: Calculate the most cost-effective routing and landside costs (e.g., local handling, terminal fees, transport, and customs clearance).
- Market Monitoring: Track fuel surcharges, Peak Season Surcharges (PSS), General Rate Increases (GRI), and competitor pricing.
- Internal Collaboration: Support the sales team by providing detailed pricing analysis and technical support for client pitches.
- Vendor Management: Build strategic relationships with overseas agents, airlines, and local transport vendors.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Typically 1 to 7 years in freight forwarding operations or pricing (specialized in Air Imports).
- Logistics Knowledge: Deep understanding of Air Waybills (AWB), Incoterms, HS codes, and customs clearance regulations.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis, margin calculations, and pricing management software.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, communication, and decision-making abilities under tight deadlines
