Senior Software Engineer – Product EngineerThe 15-Second Version
We build the platform enterprises use to run AI inside their own infrastructure—their cloud, their data centre, and sometimes networks with no internet access at all.
Our customers are banks, insurers, and government-adjacent organisations that want the benefits of AI without sending sensitive data outside their environment.
We're a small team with a product that's already running end-to-end and being exercised by design partners on real workloads. It's early enough that you'll shape the architecture, but mature enough that you're building on something real—not a whiteboard.
Why This Role Is Fun
Ship from Day One
You'll make a real production change in your first week. No spending weeks reading onboarding documents before you contribute.
Build the Whole Solution
There are no ticket factories here. You'll join customer conversations, hear the problem firsthand, build the solution, and see it in production.
Solve Interesting Engineering Problems
The challenges are genuinely difficult:
- Multi-tenant isolation where data leaks are incidents, not bugs.
- Software that must install and run in environments we can't SSH into.
- Cost and performance that customers' CFOs review every month.
Work Across the Stack
You'll spend most weeks in the backend, but you'll also work on frontend, infrastructure, and data whenever the problem requires it. Nobody here is "just the API engineer."
Make Decisions Quickly
No lengthy approval chains or design committees. If the reasoning is sound, we make the decision—often the same day.
What You'll Do
- Own a product area end-to-end—from design through production and ongoing ownership.
- Ship to production every week, monitor what happens, and improve based on real usage.
- Join customer and design partner calls to understand problems directly.
- Decide what we should build, adopt, or delete.
- Get our platform running in environments where traditional debugging isn't an option.
- Review code thoughtfully, and welcome the same level of feedback on your own.
Technology StackBackend
Data
Frontend
Infrastructure
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- Helm
- Terraform
- AWS
Air-gapped deployments are a first-class requirement, making packaging and deployment as important as application development.
Platform
- Temporal for durable workflows
- Keycloak for enterprise SSO
- Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring production systems
AI
You'll work with LLMs every day, but this is fundamentally a systems and product engineering role—not AI research.
If your goal is training foundation models, we're probably not the right fit.
If you enjoy making AI systems reliable, observable, secure, and cost-effective inside highly regulated enterprises, you'll feel at home here.
Kubernetes Experience Is Required
This is our one non-negotiable requirement.
We deploy into customers' Kubernetes clusters, so you need real production experience operating workloads on Kubernetes—not just completing tutorials or relying on a platform team.
Come prepared with a story about:
- What broke
- How you investigated it
- What you changed
- What you learned
Everything else is flexible.
We've hired engineers from Go, Java, and Rust backgrounds who became productive within a month. We value engineering judgment far more than familiarity with a particular language.
What We're Looking ForMust Have
- 3+ years building and shipping software people actually use (professional work, open source, and substantial side projects all count).
- Strong experience in at least one modern backend language.
- Comfortable working across frontend and infrastructure when needed.
- Proven production Kubernetes experience.
- Experience owning production systems, including on-call responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, schema design, and query performance.
- Excellent written communication—you can explain ideas clearly in design docs and pull requests.
- An evidence-driven approach to debugging.
Nice to Have
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS, security-focused, or infrastructure-heavy products.
- Experience with Helm and Terraform, particularly shipping software into customer-managed environments.
- Experience working with AI or LLM-based applications.
- Experience at an early-stage startup or building products from an early phase.
You'll Enjoy This Role If...
- You'd rather ship something good on Friday than something perfect next quarter.
- Ambiguity motivates you instead of slowing you down.
- You have strong opinions, but you're willing to change your mind when presented with better evidence.
- "That's not my job" isn't part of your vocabulary.
