Job Title: Duty Medical Officer (DMO)Qualification: MBBS with valid Medical Council RegistrationDepartment: Casualty / Emergency & Inpatient WardsJob Summary:
The Duty Medical Officer is responsible for providing immediate and ongoing medical care to patients in the casualty (emergency) department and inpatient wards. The role involves prompt assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and management of patients, ensuring high standards of clinical care.
Key Responsibilities:1. Casualty / Emergency Care:
- Attend to all patients presenting in the casualty/emergency department.
- Perform rapid clinical assessment, triage, and initiate appropriate treatment.
- Manage medical and surgical emergencies efficiently.
- Stabilize critically ill patients before referral or admission.
- Coordinate with specialists for further management when required.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all emergency cases.
2. Ward Management:
- Conduct regular rounds in assigned wards and monitor patient progress.
- Review investigations, adjust treatment plans, and ensure proper follow-up.
- Handle new admissions and discharges in coordination with consultants.
- Respond promptly to patient complaints or clinical deterioration.
- Maintain detailed medical records and case sheets.
3. Clinical Procedures:
- Perform basic and emergency procedures such as IV line insertion, catheterization, suturing, wound care, etc.
- Assist in advanced procedures as required.
4. Coordination & Communication:
- Liaise with nursing staff, paramedical staff, and consultants for patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Ensure smooth handover during shift changes.
5. Administrative Duties:
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and medico-legal requirements.
- Maintain records for medico-legal cases (MLC) where applicable.
- Participate in audits, case discussions, and quality improvement activities.
6. Emergency Preparedness:
- Be available for code blue and other emergency situations within the hospital.
- Act promptly in life-saving situations and coordinate resuscitation efforts.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work in high-pressure emergency situations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Team-oriented approach
- Basic life support (BLS) / Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Experience:
- Freshers or candidates with 0–2 years of clinical experience can apply
- Experience in casualty/emergency care preferred
