Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Procurement / Purchase Manager to oversee the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and services for ongoing projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely procurement, cost optimization, quality compliance, and effective vendor management to support smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, source, and procure construction materials, equipment, and services in accordance with project requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and subcontractors while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
- Obtain and compare quotations, negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contractual agreements to achieve cost-effective procurement.
- Prepare, issue, and monitor Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, site supervisors, and the stores team to ensure material availability aligns with project schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent material shortages, delays, or excess stock.
- Ensure all procured materials comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, contracts, invoices, and purchase documentation.
- Monitor market trends, material price fluctuations, and supplier performance to support strategic purchasing decisions.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and procurement processes.
- Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and cost control skills.
- Sound understanding of supply chain and inventory management.
- Strong analytical, communication, and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and procurement software.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement activities while meeting project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of procurement experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proven experience in sourcing construction materials and managing supplier relationships.
