Position Overview
Zelis is seeking a Senior Accountant, Shared Services to support accounting and close activities for its US operations. This role owns assigned close areas, prepares journal entries from supporting analysis, performs medium-risk balance sheet reconciliations, analyzes period-over-period fluctuations, and supports accurate financial reporting under US GAAP.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own assigned month-end close areas end to end, ensuring timely completion of deliverables- Prepare and record journal entries independently based on supporting data and accounting analysis
- Prepare supporting schedules and analysis for recorded balances
- Perform medium-risk balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly
- Analyze balance sheet and P&L fluctuations and explain unusual variances
- Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and compliant with US GAAP and internal policies
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities for assigned areas
- Support internal and external audits through timely preparation of schedules and documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes and close activities
EDUCATION AND professional experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification such as CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent strongly preferred
- 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience supporting month-end close and general ledger accounting in a corporate or shared services environment
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience preparing journal entries independently from underlying support and analysis
- Experience performing balance sheet account reconciliations and investigating reconciling items
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations, and large data sets
- Experience working in ERP environments, preferably Workday
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and coordinate across teams
work environment:
Expectation to work primarily in the Zelis India office on a regular basis- Willingness to work outside of normal business hours as required to collaborate with teams outside of India
