Job Summary
A Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. They often supervise junior accounting staff and collaborate with management on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage general ledger activities and account reconciliations.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Prepare tax returns and assist with tax planning activities.
- Monitor cash flow and assist in treasury management.
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems, controls, and procedures.
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants and accounting assistants.
- Assist with financial reporting to stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CA, or ACCA preferred.
- Typically 5–8+ years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced skills in spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
