OAKS AI LABAI Product Builder Internship
Duration: 90 Days
Location: In-house
Cohort: 5 selected interns
About the Internship
The OAKS AI Lab is a Government Problem-to-Prototype Innovation Lab. Interns work on real government problem statements and take them through the complete product journey — from understanding the problem to building, validating and pitching an AI-powered solution.
What You Will Do
You will own real problem statements and work through a rotational product-building process:
Problem → Research → Build → Validate → Refine / Pitch → Rotate
Your work will include:
- Understanding government workflows, users and pain points
- Conducting user research and problem discovery
- Identifying where AI can create meaningful value
- Designing and rapidly prototyping AI solutions
- Working with LLMs, RAG, AI agents, vision, speech, OCR and automation
- Testing prototypes and measuring their effectiveness
- Incorporating feedback and improving solutions
- Preparing validated solutions for government pitches
- Documenting your work as part of your AI product portfolio
90-Day Structure
Days 1–15 — AI Product Builder Bootcamp
Learn government context, product discovery, AI technologies, AI-first product management, rapid prototyping, validation and pitching.
Days 16–75 — Problem Ownership & Rotations
Work independently on multiple government problem statements, building and validating prototypes. If a solution doesn't meet the validation threshold, you improve it or move to the next related problem.
Days 76–90 — Pitch & Portfolio
Strengthen validated prototypes, prepare pitches and document your outcomes.
What Makes This Different
This is not a conventional internship where you complete assigned tasks.
You will build a portfolio of real AI products solving real-world government problems. Your portfolio will demonstrate your ability to understand problems, build solutions, validate them and respond to real stakeholder feedback.
Selected interns will also get opportunities for interaction with government experts and exposure to administrative realities, adoption challenges and implementation requirements.
What You Graduate With
- Multiple AI prototypes
- Evidence-based AI product portfolio
- Experience solving real government problems
- Exposure to government decision-makers
- Experience taking products from problem → prototype → pitch
- OAKS AI Product Builder Fellowship Certification
- Who We Are Looking ForWe are looking for
- AI generalists and problem solvers
who are curious, proactive and willing to learn across product, technology, research and design. You don't need to be an expert in everything. The ability to learn fast, experiment and build is more important than knowing a specific technology.Ideal for: Recent graduates, final-year students and aspiring AI product builders who want to build practical AI products rather than simply study AI.
