The HR Plant Head will be responsible for leading and managing all Human Resources functions at the manufacturing plant, ensuring effective manpower planning, employee relations, industrial relations, statutory compliance, talent management, employee engagement, and organizational development. The role will act as a strategic business partner to plant leadership while maintaining a productive, compliant, and employee-centric work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Management
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with plant business objectives.
- Partner with plant leadership to drive workforce productivity, culture, and organizational effectiveness.
- Support business growth through effective talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
Industrial Relations (IR) & Employee Relations (ER)
- Manage union relations and collective bargaining processes.
- Maintain harmonious industrial relations and resolve employee grievances.
- Handle disciplinary actions, domestic inquiries, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead manpower planning and recruitment activities for plant operations.
- Ensure timely hiring of skilled, technical, and managerial personnel.
- Develop talent pipelines for critical plant positions.
Performance Management & Learning
- Drive performance management processes and goal-setting initiatives.
- Identify training needs and implement skill development programs.
- Promote leadership development and succession planning initiatives.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations, including:
- Factories Act
- Industrial Relations Code
- EPF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity
- Contract Labour Regulations
- Minimum Wages and other applicable statutory requirements
- Coordinate audits and maintain statutory records and documentation.
Employee Engagement & Welfare
- Design and implement employee engagement initiatives.
- Manage employee welfare programs, health camps, and community activities.
- Promote a positive workplace culture and employee well-being.
HR Operations
- Oversee payroll coordination, attendance management, leave administration, and HRIS.
- Ensure accurate employee records and reporting.
- Monitor HR metrics and prepare management reports.
Safety & Organizational Culture
- Collaborate with EHS teams to promote a safe workplace.
- Support safety awareness, compliance programs, and behavioral safety initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources, Personnel Management, or related field.
- Additional qualification in Labour Laws will be an advantage.
Experience
- 12–18 years of progressive HR experience in manufacturing industries.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior HR leadership role at a plant/unit level.
- Experience in Paper, Packaging, FMCG, Chemicals, Engineering, or Process Manufacturing industries preferred.
- Strong exposure to Industrial Relations, Union Management, and Statutory Compliance.
