Freight Broker – OTR, Drayage & Freight Forwarding
We are looking for a motivated, results-driven, and sales-oriented Freight Broker to join our growing logistics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the U.S. transportation market and experience in OTR trucking, Drayage, and Freight Forwarding.
The Freight Broker will be responsible for managing the complete freight brokerage and transportation process, including customer acquisition, carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, load booking, shipment coordination, tracking, documentation, and delivery management.
This position requires someone who can build strong relationships with shippers, carriers, customers, 3PL partners, and logistics providers while maintaining competitive pricing, healthy margins, reliable capacity, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with shippers, customers, carriers, freight forwarders, 3PL partners, and transportation providers.
- Generate new business through cold calling, email outreach, referrals, networking, lead generation, and other sales channels.
- Identify and develop opportunities across OTR, Drayage, and Freight Forwarding services.
- Source qualified and reliable carriers, including trucking companies, owner-operators, drayage providers, and other transportation partners.
- Negotiate competitive rates with customers and carriers while protecting company margins and profitability.
- Quote, book, and manage shipments from origin through final delivery.
- Coordinate OTR shipments, including full truckload (FTL) and other applicable ground transportation services.
- Coordinate Drayage shipments, including port, rail, container pickup and delivery, and related transportation requirements.
- Coordinate Freight Forwarding shipments with customers, carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners.
- Manage shipment schedules, pickup appointments, delivery appointments, and transportation requirements.
- Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates to customers and transportation partners.
- Monitor port, terminal, rail, and carrier conditions for Drayage shipments and respond quickly to potential delays.
- Resolve transportation issues, delays, missed appointments, capacity problems, and service-related concerns promptly.
- Verify carrier authority, insurance, safety/compliance information, and required documentation before booking loads.
- Maintain accurate records of loads, rates, customers, carriers, containers, shipment details, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure shipments and transactions follow company policies and applicable U.S. transportation requirements.
- Monitor market conditions, lane rates, capacity, fuel trends, port conditions, and carrier availability to make informed pricing decisions.
- Follow up consistently with existing customers and carriers to increase repeat business and strengthen long-term relationships.
- Maintain accurate customer and carrier information in the CRM, TMS, load boards, and other transportation systems.
- Collaborate with operations and accounting teams to ensure accurate load processing, documentation, invoicing, and payment procedures.
- Meet and exceed targets for sales, load volume, revenue, gross margin, customer acquisition, and customer retention.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Freight Broker, Logistics Sales Representative, Transportation Broker, Freight Forwarder, Account Manager, or similar position preferred.
- Experience in U.S. OTR, Drayage, Freight Forwarding, freight brokerage, or 3PL operations highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the U.S. trucking and transportation industry.
- Knowledge of OTR freight lanes, carrier capacity, and transportation pricing.
- Familiarity with Drayage operations, ports, terminals, rail facilities, containers, and appointment processes is a strong advantage.
- Understanding of Freight Forwarding processes and coordination is preferred.
- Excellent communication, sales, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Strong ability to negotiate rates with both customers and carriers.
- Comfortable with cold calling, prospecting, and business development.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent follow-up and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with TMS, CRM platforms, load boards, Microsoft Office, and transportation/logistics software.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operations and accounting teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with a focus on revenue growth and profitability.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
