Qualification: B.Sc./M.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry) or equivalent. MBA in Healthcare/Hospital Administration/Operations will be an added advantage.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Manager – Lab Operations to oversee and support the day-to-day operations of our diagnostic laboratory network. The ideal candidate will ensure operational efficiency, quality compliance, timely service delivery, and seamless coordination between laboratory teams, collection centres, logistics, and customer support while maintaining NABL standards and regulatory compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Operations
- Support daily operations of laboratories and collection centres to ensure uninterrupted diagnostic services.
- Monitor sample collection, transportation, processing, reporting, and dispatch activities.
- Ensure adherence to defined Turnaround Time (TAT) for all diagnostic services.
- Coordinate with laboratory teams to resolve operational issues promptly.
Operational Coordination
- Coordinate with Pathologists, Lab In-Charges, Collection Centres, Logistics, and Customer Care teams.
- Ensure effective communication between laboratory operations and business functions.
- Escalate operational issues and recommend corrective actions.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NABL standards, SOPs, quality systems, and statutory regulations.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Promote quality assurance and patient safety initiatives across laboratory operations.
Process Improvement
- Identify operational gaps and recommend process improvements.
- Support operational excellence initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Optimize workflow across laboratory operations.
Inventory & Asset Management
- Monitor laboratory consumables, reagents, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with the Procurement team for timely replenishment.
- Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of laboratory equipment and assets.
Team Support
- Assist in manpower planning and scheduling.
- Coordinate onboarding and operational training for new employees.
- Support employee performance monitoring and provide operational guidance.
MIS & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Monitor key operational metrics including TAT, sample volumes, productivity, rejection rates, and customer complaints.
- Present operational reports and improvement recommendations to management.
Customer Service
- Coordinate with customer support teams for timely resolution of service-related issues.
- Ensure high standards of patient and client satisfaction through efficient laboratory services.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Promote laboratory safety protocols and safe working practices across all locations.
