Role Purpose
Manage supplier quality assurance and incoming inspection for all fuze components (40×46mm and 155mm PDM 557 SM). Ensure all incoming parts meet drawing specifications before release to assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct incoming inspection of all fuze components against approved drawings and specifications
- Perform dimensional inspection using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM as applicable
- Coordinate NABL-accredited material testing for incoming raw materials (steel, aluminium, rubber, plastic)
- Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) — document, disposition, and close out with corrective actions
- Conduct periodic quality audits at Bangalore and Coimbatore suppliers
- Maintain inspection records, material certificates, and NABL test reports for all parts
- Support SQA Engineer 2 with in-process and final inspection when required
- Maintain and calibrate inspection instruments; manage gauge calibration schedule
- Prepare supplier quality performance reports monthly
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical or Production Engineering
Experience
3–6 years in quality inspection or SQA

Must Have
Good to Have
- 3+ years in incoming quality inspection or SQA in precision engineering or defence manufacturing
- Proficiency in GD&T interpretation and reading engineering drawings
- Hands-on experience with precision instruments: vernier, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge, plug gauge
- Experience raising and tracking NCRs and corrective actions
- Knowledge of material testing requirements and NABL test coordination
- Experience with fuze, ammunition, or clockwork mechanism parts inspection
- Familiarity with gear tooth comparison and escapement mechanism tolerances
- Internal auditor training (ISO 9001 or AQAP) Conduct in-process inspection at each machining stage on the Sri City CNC line — OD turning, boring, cavity, thread, driving band groove
- Use go/no-go gauges, thread gauges, bore gauges, and surface finish instruments as per the approved inspection plan
- Perform final dimensional inspection on completed machined shell bodies per DRG 155-1040 characteristic schedule
- Verify fuze cavity thread, driving band groove, base profile, and base vent port (BB model) to specification
- Check marking per DRG 155-9020 on all finished shells — heat no., serial no., cast no.
- Maintain the in-process inspection record for each unit — traceability from forging heat to finished shell
- Raise NCRs for machining non-conformances; work with Production Supervisor on root cause and correction
- Maintain and control the gauge set for the Sri City machining line — calibration schedule, storage, issue register
- Support Quality Head during DGQA witness of machining operations

- Incoming inspection turnaround: within 24 hours of receipt
- Incoming rejection rate tracked and reported monthly
- NCR closure rate: 100% within agreed timeline
- Zero uninspected parts entering assembly
- Calibration compliance: 100%
