Job Description:
Lead – Software Asset Management & Procurement (IC Role)
An experienced professional responsible for end-to-end software asset lifecycle management and IT procurement governance.
This is a lead-level individual contributor role focused on strategy execution, compliance, optimization, and vendor coordination without direct people management.
Key Responsibilities
Software Asset Management (SAM) Save
- Manage complete lifecycle of software assets: request, procurement, deployment, usage tracking, renewal, and retirement

Maintain accurate software inventory, entitlements, and license positions

Ensure compliance with vendor licensing agreements (Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, etc.)

Conduct periodic software audits and true-up exercises

Analyze software usage data to identify under-utilization, compliance gaps, and risks
Software Procurement

Drive end-to-end software procurement process including requirement validation, vendor selection, and order placement

Review and process purchase requisitions, RFPs, RFQs, and contracts
-
Evaluate vendor proposals for commercial and technical alignment
-
Work closely with finance and legal teams for contract finalization and renewals
-
Track procurement metrics such as spend, savings, and vendor performance
Vendor & Contract Management

Manage relationships with software vendors, resellers, and service providers
-
Monitor contract terms, renewal timelines, pricing models, and compliance clauses
-
Ensure adherence to SLA, licensing terms, and audit requirements
-
Support negotiations with vendors for pricing and licensing models
Governance & Compliance

Establish and enforce SAM policies, standards, and controls
-
Ensure adherence to IT governance frameworks and audit requirements
-
Support internal and external audit activities
-
Maintain documentation for software compliance and procurement processes
Reporting & Analytics

Generate MIS reports on license utilization, compliance status, and procurement spend

Provide insights on cost optimization and license rationalization
Track KPIs such as license compliance rate, renewal accuracy, and procurement turnaround time
Qualifications:
Experience Required
15+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, or IT Procurement-
Strong experience in software licensing models (perpetual, subscription, SaaS)

Proven exposure to enterprise tools such as ServiceNow SAM, Flexera, Snow, or similar

Hands-on experience in vendor contract management and audit handling

Experience working in large enterprise environments
Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science / IT
(BE / BSc / BCA or equivalent)
