Profile Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and language-savvy Freelance Copy Editor to review, refine, and enhance written content for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and readability. The ideal candidate has a strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines, with the ability to ensure error-free, engaging, and publication-ready content while preserving the author's voice.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit and proofread manuscripts, articles, educational content, and digital content.
- Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and formatting errors.
- Improve clarity, flow, consistency, and readability of content.
- Ensure adherence to project-specific style guides and editorial standards.
- Fact-check basic information and flag inconsistencies or ambiguities.
- Collaborate with authors, editors, designers, and project teams to meet quality expectations.
- Deliver edited content within agreed timelines.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and editorial best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and track-changes editing.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
- Familiarity with academic, educational, or publishing content is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Literature, Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience in copy editing, proofreading, content editing, or publishing preferred.
