We are looking for a technically skilled interface person responsible for the stable operation, maintenance, and further development of our production web platform. This role oversees update/patch processes, provider/infrastructure communication, and operational stability—while also having sufficient hands-on expertise to implement tasks independently and escalate issues in a structured manner when needed.
Responsibilities
- Planning, coordinating, and executing system and security updates (Debian 13, apt, kernel updates including reboot planning)
- Managing maintenance windows, rollout plans, and go/no-go decisions (test → production)
- VM/infrastructure management (cloud VM / VMware): snapshots/clones, recovery options, coordination with cloud provider
- Backup and restore management: consistent database backups, files/configurations, regular restore tests, cutover planning (write freeze/sync)
- Operation and troubleshooting within the web stack (e.g., Nginx/Apache, PHP-FPM, TLS, systemd, cron/workers)
- Incident and issue management: root cause analysis, coordination of external service providers, clear communication, post-incident review (RCA)
- Monitoring & logging: system monitoring, alerts, log analysis (journalctl, application logs), basic capacity/performance checks
- Documentation of changes, system states, and operational processes (runbooks, restore runbook, patch logs)
- Interface between development team, infrastructure, and cloud provider
Technical Environment
- Cloud-based VM servers (VMware environment at the provider)
- Operating system: Debian 13
- Web application: PHP, server-side rendered
- Frontend (classic): jQuery, Bootstrap, jQuery UI, DataTables, Select2, FullCalendar, Air Datepicker, Font Awesome / Bootstrap Icons
- Database: (depending on the system, typically MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL)
Requirements
Must-have
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux servers (ideally Debian/Ubuntu)
- Package management and update processes (apt, security patches, kernel updates, reboot management)
- Experience with production maintenance and rollout processes (staging/testing, checklists, approvals, downtime planning)
- Solid expertise in backup/restore, including consistent database backups and recovery testing
- Confident troubleshooting in logs/services (systemd, journalctl, permissions/ownership, filesystem paths)
- Structured and reliable communication as a technical interface (provider/dev/stakeholders)
Nice-to-have
- Experience with VMware/virtualization processes (snapshots/clones/console recovery)
- Operational experience with Nginx/Apache, PHP-FPM, TLS/certificates (e.g., Let’s Encrypt), basic DNS knowledge
- Monitoring/alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana, Zabbix, Icinga, etc.) and log stacks
- Security basics (SSH hardening, firewall, secrets handling, least privilege)
- Understanding of classic web architectures and legacy frontends (jQuery/Bootstrap)
