Job Summary
The Accounts Intern will support the Finance & Accounts team with day-to-day accounting operations, financial record keeping, and administrative tasks. This internship provides practical exposure to accounting practices within the shipping and logistics industry, including invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and processing customer invoices and supplier payments.
- Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Reconcile bank statements and customer/supplier accounts.
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and account reconciliations.
- Verify invoices, receipts, and supporting documents for accuracy.
- Coordinate with operations and logistics teams regarding billing and shipping-related expenses.
- Assist in tracking freight charges, customs-related costs, and logistics expenses.
- Support internal and external audits by organizing financial documents.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
- Perform other finance and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with accounting software (such as Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or Zoho Books) is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of shipping and logistics documentation is an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
