ABOUT THE COMPANY
Saman Global Private Limited is a Kolkata-based export trading company engaged in the export of tea, sunflower oil, FMCG goods, construction materials, and indoor furnishings. The company's primary trade corridors are Iraq and Jordan. With growing volumes and multi-bank credit facilities, Saman Global is hiring a dedicated Banking & Finance Manager to own the entire banking relationship and treasury function.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Banking & Finance Manager will be the single point of accountability for all banking, credit, and treasury operations of the company. The role demands deep expertise in export finance instruments — pre-shipment and post-shipment credit, bill discounting, foreign currency loans — combined with strong treasury skills covering forex rate booking, hedging, and derivatives. The incumbent will manage two primary banking relationships (ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank), negotiate credit terms, ensure optimal utilization of limits, and work closely with the export operations team to align invoice routing with the correct banking channel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:-
Cash flow & limit management
- Prepare and monitor weekly cash flow plans and fund-flow forecasts to ensure liquidity for procurement, shipments, and loan repayments.
- Track utilization of sanctioned fund-based and non-fund-based limits across all banks under the multi-banking arrangement; optimize drawdowns and interest cost.
- Maintain daily/weekly banking MIS on outstandings, limits, drawing power, and availability.
Export & import credit (pre- and post-shipment)
- Apply for and avail packing credit / PCFC (pre-shipment) and post-shipment finance (bill discounting / negotiation / FUBD) against confirmed orders and LCs.
- Manage the knock-off / liquidation of packing credit against post-shipment credit and export realizations within prescribed timelines.
- Track expiry and liquidation due dates of every packing credit and post-shipment loan; ensure timely adjustment to avoid overdue interest and forced crystallization.
- Monitor overdue export/import bills and coordinate with banks on crystallization per FEDAI / RBI norms.
Forex & treasury
- Book, utilize, and track forward exchange contracts (forward dollar rate booking) to hedge export receivables and import payables.
- Manage utilization, early delivery, rollover, cancellation, and knock-off of forward contracts against actual shipments and realizations.
- Monitor currency exposure and negotiate competitive rates with bank treasury / dealing desks.
Letters of credit & trade documentation
- Handle export and import Letters of Credit — scrutiny of LC terms, amendments, document preparation, and negotiation (working knowledge of UCP 600).
- Arrange import LCs and, where required, buyer's / supplier's credit for procurement.
- Coordinate submission of shipping documents to banks and follow up on realization.
Bank compliance & documentation
- Prepare and submit monthly stock and book-debt statements, QIS returns, and other periodic data used by banks to compute drawing power.
- Compile CMA data and documentation for the annual renewal / enhancement of bank limits; liaise with banks from sanction through disbursement.
- Generate and manage eBRCs (Electronic Bank Realisation Certificates); ensure export proceeds are realized and reported within FEMA timelines.
- Ensure closure and reconciliation of shipping bills in EDPMS and bills of entry in IDPMS; follow up on outstanding entries.
- Reconcile bank charges, interest, and commissions; identify and contest incorrect debits.
Relationship & coordination
- Act as the primary day-to-day liaison with bank Relationship Managers and trade-finance desks across all banking partners.
- Coordinate ECGC / credit insurance and marine insurance requirements where applicable.
- Support DGFT / export-incentive documentation (e.g., RoDTEP, duty drawback) to the extent it depends on banking and realization data.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–6 years in banking / trade-finance operations within a company that has both import and export operations (commodity / agri-export experience strongly preferred).
- Strong practical knowledge of packing credit, post-shipment finance, letters of credit (UCP 600), forward contracts, and crystallization / knock-off mechanics.
- Working understanding of FEMA, RBI / FEDAI guidelines, EDPMS / IDPMS, eBRC, and DGFT basics.
- Comfort preparing stock statements, QIS, CMA data, and limit-renewal documentation.
- Advanced Excel; familiarity with banking portals and ERP systems.
- Sharp follow-up discipline, attention to due dates, and the ability to juggle multiple banking relationships at once.
What This Role Is Not
This is not a bookkeeping or financial-accounting position. Ledgers, GST/TDS, statutory audit, and general accounting are handled separately. The focus here is banking, trade finance, and treasury operations.
What We Offer
- A central role working directly with senior management on the company's banking and treasury function.
- Exposure to large-volume, multi-bank export–import finance across tea and edible oils.
- Compensation commensurate with experience.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
