Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to support our growing operations. It is India’s first brand from the sector to appear in Shark Tank India.
Position Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the organization's day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring timely financial reporting, statutory compliance, vendor payments, revenue reconciliation, hostel fee accounting, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate should possess strong accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting
- Maintain books of accounts and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Prepare journal entries, payment vouchers, receipts, and ledger postings.
- Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Accounts Receivable
- Record hostel fee collections and other revenues.
- Reconcile admissions with fee collections.
- Monitor outstanding student dues and coordinate with the Admissions and Hostel teams for recovery.
- Generate ageing reports and collection summaries.
Accounts Payable
- Verify vendor invoices and process payments.
- Maintain vendor ledgers and payment schedules.
- Reconcile supplier statements.
- Ensure timely payment of rent, utilities, food suppliers, and other operational expenses.
Payroll & Employee Benefits
- Calculate statutory deductions and reimbursements.
- Maintain employee advances and settlement records.
Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and file GST returns.
- Assist in TDS calculations and return filing.
- Maintain compliance records.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and government authorities.
Budgeting & MIS
- Prepare monthly Management Information System (MIS) reports.
- Assist management in financial planning and forecasting.
Internal Controls
- Ensure adherence to financial policies and SOPs.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records.
- Assist during statutory, internal, and tax audits.
- Support implementation of financial controls across hostel operations.
Cash & Banking
- Monitor daily cash flow.
- Verify cash collections and deposits.
- Maintain petty cash records.
- Prepare daily cash reports.
Coordination
- Work closely with Operations, Admissions, HR, Kitchen, Procurement, and Management teams.
- Support finance-related projects and process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com) or equivalent.
- M.Com or CA Inter (preferred).
- Minimum 2–5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience in hospitality, education, hostel, hotel, or service industries will be preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Tally is must.
- Working knowledge of GST, TDS, and Income Tax compliance.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Ability to prepare MIS reports and financial analyses.
