Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and service-oriented IT Assistant to support the day-to-day IT operations of our Mumbai office. Reporting to the IT Manager, the successful candidate will provide first-level technical support to office users, assist in maintaining the Company's IT infrastructure, and ensure the smooth operation of hardware, software, and network systems.
Working in the shipping industry, this role offers opportunities to gain exposure to IT operations supporting vessel management, international offices, cloud technologies, and maritime communication systems. The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training and have opportunities to develop technical skills while supporting the Company's regional and vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to)IT Support
- Provide first-level IT support to office users, resolving hardware, software, printer, email, and network-related issues.
- Set up and configure desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Assist users with Office 365, Outlook, Teams, and other business applications.
- Prepare IT equipment for new employees and support onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Create, manage, and maintain user accounts, email accounts, and access permissions.
Infrastructure & Network Support
- Assist in maintaining office networks, Wi-Fi, servers, and shared resources.
- Perform routine system checks, software updates, and preventive maintenance.
- Support backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
- Monitor IT assets and maintain inventory records.
- Coordinate with external vendors for hardware repairs, software support, and maintenance services.
Security & Documentation
- Follow company IT security policies and cybersecurity best practices.
- Assist in antivirus management, software patching, and system updates.
- Maintain IT documentation, user guides, and asset records.
- Support implementation of IT improvement initiatives.
Vessel & International IT Support
- Assist with IT support for vessel operations as required.
- Support implementation of vessel accounting and operational systems.
- Gain exposure to vessel communication systems, including VSAT, Starlink, Iridium, and other maritime communication technologies.
- Provide remote support to overseas offices and vessel users where required.
- Travel for IT support assignments may be required from time to time.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of IT support experience.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Office 365, and Active Directory.
- Basic understanding of networking, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and server administration.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms is an advantage.
- Experience with IT hardware setup, troubleshooting, and user support.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, antivirus management, and backup solutions is preferred.
- Experience in the shipping industry or ship management industry is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with maritime satellite communication systems (e.g., VSAT, Starlink, FBB, Iridium) will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and support users in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies.
- Willingness to support users across different time zones and provide assistance outside regular office hours when required.
- Working location at Mumbai Office.
Pay: ₹9,277.20 - ₹41,834.36 per month
