Role Overview
The Mechanical Design Engineer Intern will work closely with the engineering team on the design, analysis, and development of motor and powertrain components. This role emphasizes hands-on engineering, combining CAD modeling, simulation, and prototype development in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of motor components and assemblies using 3D Modelling software.
- Perform simulations and engineering analyses using ANSYS to validate and optimize designs for structural integrity, thermal performance, and efficiency
- Support the design and development of axial flux motor systems and related powertrain components
- Assist in prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements based on real-world performance data
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to engineering decisions with data-driven insights
- Ensure designs comply with relevant safety, quality, and manufacturing standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, technicians, and manufacturing partners to resolve design challenges
- Document design processes, test results, and technical findings
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, materials, and tools in mechanical and motor design
Requirements
- Proficiency in 3D CAD Modelling.
- Working knowledge of ANSYS or similar simulation tools
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
- Interest in electric vehicles, motor design, or powertrain systems
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced R&D environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to motor design (especially axial flux motors)
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and material selection
- Basic understanding of thermal and structural analysis
