Senior Accountant – Food & Beverage
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations for an F&B business, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with applicable accounting and tax requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable records.
- Perform daily/monthly bank, cash, credit-card, POS, and ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor restaurant/store sales and reconcile POS reports with accounting records and bank collections.
- Verify supplier invoices, purchase orders, goods receipts, and payments.
- Track food, beverage, packaging, and other inventory purchases.
- Coordinate and monitor inventory stock counts and investigate variances.
- Analyze food cost, beverage cost, wastage, and gross margins.
- Prepare monthly closing entries, schedules, and financial statements.
- Prepare P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and management reports.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor operating expenses and identify unusual or excessive costs.
- Ensure proper accounting for inventory, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and provisions.
- Support statutory audits and provide required financial information and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable GST, TDS, income tax, and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and strengthen internal financial controls.
- Coordinate with operations, procurement, stores, payroll, and management teams.
- Identify process improvements to improve financial accuracy and reduce costs.
F&B-Specific Responsibilities
- Reconcile daily sales by outlet/channel with POS, online delivery platforms, cash, cards, and bank settlements.
- Monitor food and beverage cost percentages and investigate significant variances.
- Review recipe/BOM costing and contribution margins where applicable.
- Track inventory movement and control wastage, spoilage, pilferage, and stock variances.
- Analyze outlet-wise revenue, expenses, and profitability.
- Ensure proper accounting of complimentary meals, discounts, promotions, and staff meals.
- Review vendor pricing and purchase-cost trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CA Inter / CMA / ACCA qualification is an advantage.
- 4–7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in F&B, hospitality, restaurants, or retail.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Good knowledge of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Experience with accounting/ERP and POS systems is preferred.
