Qualification D.Pharm / B.Pharm with valid registration under the West Bengal Pharmacy Council (B.Pharm candidates will be given added preference)
Experience Minimum 3 – 5 years in a Hospital Pharmacy with hands-on IP & OP pharmacy operations (_Hospital background mandatory - retail pharmacy experience alone will not be considered)_
Key Responsibilities
IP & OP Pharmacy Operations
- Check patient ID, name, and treating doctor details on every prescription before dispensing
- Accurately dispense medicines for OPD, IPD, Emergency, ICU, and OT as per valid prescriptions
- Manage medicine indents, issues, and returns for inpatient wards and nursing stations
- If the prescribed drug is unavailable, coordinate with purchase/stores/distributors and inform the treating doctor of substitutes via the hospital formulary
- Ensure correct labelling, packaging, and dispensing instructions on all medicines issued
- Provide basic patient counselling on dosage, storage, and usage at the OPD counter
Emergency, ICU & OT Support
- Ensure 24/7 availability of emergency drugs, life-saving medications, and OT consumables
- Process urgent indent requests from ICU and OT nursing staff with speed and accuracy
- Maintain emergency drug tray/kit and replenish after every use
Inventory & Stock Management
- Check daily bed occupancy and plan medicine requirements for both IP and OP pharmacy
- Maintain optimum stock levels of medicines, surgical items, and consumables
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with system/HIS records
- Monitor expiry dates and execute strict FIFO/FEFO stock rotation
- Raise stock indent requests on daily/weekly/monthly basis to purchase/stores
- Track fast-moving and slow-moving items and report to Pharmacy In-Charge
- Minimise wastage, pilferage, and stock-outs at all times
MIS & Reconciliation
- Prepare daily pharmacy MIS — issues, returns, consumption, and closing stock reports
- Perform IP pharmacy reconciliation — match medicine issues against patient case sheets and billing
- Identify and report discrepancies between physical stock and system entries immediately
- Assist in monthly stock reconciliation and submit reports to Pharmacy In-Charge
- Support billing team to ensure all dispensed medicines and consumables are correctly charged - prevent revenue leakage
Medication Safety & Compliance
- Follow strict dispensing protocols for LASA (Look-Alike Sound-Alike) and High-Alert drugs (insulin, concentrated electrolytes, anticoagulants)
- Maintain accurate registers for Schedule H, H1, and Narcotic/Psychotropic drugs as per regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with Pharmacy Act 1948, Drugs & Cosmetics Act, and hospital SOPs
- Support NABH accreditation documentation, internal audits, and inspection readiness
- Participate in medication error reporting and corrective action processes
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with nursing staff, doctors, and hospital administration for seamless pharmacy support
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness, organisation, and proper storage conditions including cold chain
- Willing to work rotational shifts including nights and weekends as per Hospital roster
Skills Required Valid Pharmacy Council registration | Hospital pharmacy software / HIS | Advanced MS Excel for MIS & reconciliation | Knowledge of Schedule H/H1/Narcotic regulations | LASA & High-Alert drug awareness
Good communication in Bengali/Hindi/English
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
