Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in heavy machinery, machine fabrication, and industrial equipment design. The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, and optimization of custom machinery, structural skids, automated fabrication systems, and heavy welded structures while closely supporting shop-floor manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities Machine & Structural Design
- Design complex industrial machinery, welded structures, custom fabrication equipment, and heavy sheet metal assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Develop detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Integrate mechanical systems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components including motors, gearboxes, cylinders, and actuators.
- Apply GD&T standards to ensure manufacturing accuracy and assembly performance.
Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
- Optimize designs for fabrication efficiency, weldability, material utilization, and production cost reduction.
- Prepare detailed fabrication drawings with weld symbols, bending details, and flat-pattern layouts.
- Provide technical support to fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly teams.
Engineering Analysis & Validation
- Perform FEA, structural analysis, and load calculations to validate machine performance and safety.
- Select suitable materials, structural steel sections, wear-resistant components, and hardware.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering and safety standards.
Documentation & Engineering Control
- Create and maintain multi-level BOMs.
- Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and design revisions.
- Support procurement and production teams with technical documentation.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (Large Assemblies, Weldments & Sheet Metal).
- Strong knowledge of heavy fabrication processes, welding, CNC machining, and sheet metal manufacturing.
- Experience in designing power transmission systems, shafts, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Expertise in manufacturing drawings, GD&T, and engineering calculations.
- Experience in FEA and structural analysis is preferred.
Desired Candidate Profile
- B. Tech/ B.E (Mechanical)
- 6–10+ years of experience in machine design, heavy equipment manufacturing, or custom automation machinery.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to work closely with shop-floor teams.
- Leadership experience in design reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
