Laboratory Management
- Ensure the laboratories are clean, organized, and fully functional at all times.
- Prepare laboratories before practical sessions by arranging apparatus, chemicals, specimens, and equipment as per lesson plans.
- Assist teachers and students during practical classes and demonstrations.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained in good working condition.
- Coordinate repair, servicing, and calibration of laboratory instruments when required.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory equipment, chemicals, consumables, and assets.
- Conduct periodic stock verification and submit inventory reports.
- Monitor stock levels and raise requisitions for procurement of laboratory materials.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of chemicals and laboratory equipment.
- Maintain issue and return registers for laboratory apparatus.
Laboratory Safety
- Ensure compliance with CBSE laboratory safety norms and school safety policies.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and safety documentation where applicable.
- Ensure availability and functionality of fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, eye wash stations, and other safety equipment.
- Guide students on safe handling of chemicals, glassware, electrical equipment, and laboratory instruments.
- Ensure proper disposal of chemical waste and broken glass as per safety guidelines.
Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintain laboratory attendance and practical records.
- Keep updated records of practical schedules, equipment maintenance, stock registers, and purchase records.
- Support laboratory audits and inspections.
- Assist in maintaining records required for CBSE affiliation and compliance.
Academic Support
- Assist faculty in preparing experiments, demonstrations, and practical assessments.
- Support science exhibitions, STEM activities, Olympiads, innovation fairs, and project work.
- Help develop laboratory manuals and practical worksheets when required.
- Ensure laboratory readiness for internal and external practical examinations.
Compliance
- Ensure laboratories comply with CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws and school quality standards.
- Follow all safety, hygiene, and environmental guidelines.
- Support statutory inspections and accreditation processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science (B.Sc.) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline.
- Diploma/Certification in Laboratory Technology (preferred).
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Science Lab Assistant/Lab In-Charge in a school.
- Knowledge of CBSE practical curriculum and laboratory procedures.
